News on my Mum

Posted by PicasaJust a little up date on my Mum
She was finally operated on last night at about 7pm
I couldnt believe the time from when she fell to the time of surgery, but aparently it is fairly common
She fell early Wednesday morning and was operated on on Friday night
My sister went to spend the day with her today and reports that mum walked on a frame the short distance to the shower and came back in a wheel chair
That has to be good
As the hospital she is in is about an hour and a half away we are trying to make sure someone visits every day so we will take it in turns
Thankyou all for your kind thoughts
Hubby is still unwell with gall stone problems and he is also waiting for surgery
He had the gall bladder out some time ago but aparently a few unfortunate people still make stones he just had to be one of them
Some rain here today after some beautiful spring like days

  1. Only just catching up with happenings - so sorry! As you say - just what every daughter or son dreads hearing. It is difficult to want to be in so many places at once but your mum is clearly well blessed with loving family surrounding her. It will be the after care too, so hope mum is happy and adaptable to accepting any arangements made for and with her, in her interests. Not easy when there are other pressures on you, but taken each day at a time and knowing others at least know and care, help.
Best wishes to you all, hope mum continues to recover as she appears to be doing. Lovely photo below. Hang on in there........

  2. Illene I am so sorry to hear you DH is unwell. Hope he gets in soon for the surgery to remove those stones.

It is good news Mum is on the mend. It is good when you can share the visiting and that Mum has someone each day. Tell her we are all thinking of yous.

  3. Illene, so good to hear that your mom came through the surgery well. Now will just be the time to heal!

And so sorry to hear that your hubby is having problems. I had no idea that a body could still create gall stones once the gall bladder was removed! I will be keeping both he and your mom in my prayers!

Take good care of yourself, too!

    XOXO,

    Cyndi

  6. Glad your mum is up and about - and for her age that is excellent! I had bilateral hip replacements at 52 and boy, I tell you, it hurts! Thank God for morphine ;-)

Hope all goes well for your husband also. I will continue to keep you all in my prayers.

Enjoy your weekend. It's been raining here off and on too, but I'm not complaining. I love the rain!

  8. Everything seems to happen all at once, doesn't it? Sorry about that. What a challenge to deal with it all!

I do have to say, however, that your mother sounds like a real trooper. She isn't taking this lying down! Up already! She's amazing.

And hopefully, your husband's issue will resolve itself with time. I certainly hope so...

Don't forget to take care of yourself, by the way! You'll need the energy!

  11. Thank you for visiting my blog, Illene. I'm glad you did, I may never have happened upon yours otherwise. We have a few things in common, I sew but don't have the patience or creativity for quilting. Although I sure admire those who do. I was once upon a time also a dairy farmer. And I've had a gall bladder removed. Thankfully successfully, no-one ever told me there was any other kind - thank heavens! Also, I remember the anguish when my 90 year old dad fell and broke his hip. He didn't recover after the op so I am very glad to hear your mother is up and about. Life can be tough at times, can't it?
