MORE ON MYSTERY QUILT

Well it's certainly been a cold windy and wet couple of days
Only good thing was I got a bit of sewing done
I have such trouble photographing quilts
I have got all the squares together for the mystery quilt but unfortunately silly me used two colours that are to similar and the pattern doesn't really look like the enclosed photo from the magazine I guess it doesn't look to bad The colours are pretty and will go well with her caravan decor. I have no intention of unpicking
If when finished it doesn't look good I will keep it and make her something else
Tomorrow I have to take Elder Daughter to the speech therapist Her vocal cords have been damaged from the radiation She can't really take a trick There seem to always some complication or another for her She is so brave and tries hard to keep cheerfull
Terrible photo

Part 3 MYSTERY QUILT

All the blocks are now finished for the Mystery Quilt I can't say I have really enjoyed doing this
It is quite fiddly and I think some of the instructions may be missing, but clever girl that Iam I have worked it out. I have to admit that Iam cheating a bit and managed to convince Faye (person dealing out the patterns) to let me have the complete lot of patterns Now normally I wouldn't do this because it's good to be at the same part as the rest of the group Iam hoping to give this quilt to elder daughter for her new caravan and they want to go away in June She will be having a break from her cancer treatments for a little while and this will probably be her only chance to get away and she really needs to do so So it's important to me to get it done for her

Bella

Bella is still sleeping and causing us concern
I rang the vet before. He wasn't to to worried Says sometimes they take a while to wake up and she will be healing and not feeling to much pain
Thankyou to those that enquired
A beautiful sunny day here I should have been in the garden but instead I did housework The dust was 2inches thick
Then this afternoon I did my volunteering arvo at the school Twice a week I help with cooking My grandchildrens school have this Kitchen garden program where the students grow produce in the school garden and then they cook it and then we sit down to eat what we have made
We make some interesting food and it introduces the kids to different food to what they normally eat

BELLA

Our little dog had to have an operation this morning
She had a large lump on her teat that was causing her discomfort
Poor little thing is home in her bed but still has not woken up Seems to be taking a long time
She will be 13 in June
At her age we wouldn't have put her through the op , but the lump was getting so big she was having trouble walking

QUIET

REFLECTIONS OF A SMART NAN
author unknown
WHEN MY OWN KIDS WERE YOUNGER I HAD LITTLE TIME TO PLAY
THE ENDLESS CHORES AND HOUSEWORK SEEMED TO DOMINATE MY DAY
BUT NOW THAT I'M A GRANDMOTHER TO MY DELIGHT I'VE FOUND
I'M SMARTER BY A COUNTRY MILE THE SECOND TIME AROUND
I DON'T GET IN A LATHER IF THE IRONING ISN'T DONE
THE PRECIOUS EARLY CHILDHOOD YEARS WERE MEANT FOR HAVING FUN
IT DOESN'T BOTHER ME A LOT IF THINGS ARE IN A MUDDLE
WE HAVE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TO DO LIKE PADDLING THROUGH A PUDDLE
LIKE DONNING COATS AND GUMBOOTS AND WALKING IN THE RAIN
AND WATCHING BOATS OF AUTUMN LEAVES GO SWIRLING DOWN THE DRAIN
LIKE READING BOOKS AND PLAYING BALL AND CRAWLING ROUND THE FLOOR
OR PLAYING GAMES OF HIDE AND SEEK BEHIND THE KITCHEN DOOR
LIKE SUMMER PICNICS AT THE BEACH AND CASTLES IN THE SAND
A TIRED TODDLER ON MY KNEE A CHUBBY CLINGING HAND
WHEN THEY GROW UP THEY WON'T RECALL IF THE HOUSE WAS SPIC AND SPAN
THEY WILL JUST REMEMBER ALL THE FUN THEY HAD WITH GOOD OLD NAN

koalas go carts quilts and black eyes

My koala came back for a visit this morning He looks wet and bedraggled but a better photo
My grandchildren have been spending a few days with me while their Mum is at work
We also have my nephew who is the same age as eldest grandson
They have amused themselves trying to make a gocart from an old ride on mower Still looks like a mower They have had a great time and I will clean up all the mud at my back door when they go home Only one injury for the day when second grandson got accidently hit in the eye I think it will go black It's quite swollen
I made a wall hanging to display Hubby's collection of hat pins Most of the pins came from my American penfriend
Now off to find a place on my limited wall space to hang it

FRUSTRATION

There are many things in this life that frustrate me
At the moment it's this darn computer
Since I started this blog it has given me a great deal of enjoyment, made some wonderful new friends and learnt a lot
But it still frustrates me
I had to up my internet usage because I kept exceeding my usage Now Iam on the highest plan and I can never seem to connect when I want
Never mind I will just keep trying to learn patience

NO.ONE DAUGHTERS CAT QUILT

Cold and windy today
Iam currently working on three quilts , none of which are likely to be finished in the near future Something I don't usually like to do but my quilting group have two going and I have the log cabin one that I will take my time in working the applique
As well as the Mystery Quilt we are also making different blocks using different techniques wich we will put together when we have enough blocks made
It is frustrating for me that it takes so long as I like to get it done but some of our members are just learning so we work at their pace
I will show some of my older quits
I enjoy applique

Elder daughters quilt
Have been out in the garden but it got a bit warm Worked up a sweat
Certainly would be good to have some rain
I have been " surfing" blogs lately
Iam really enjoying looking at what people make and sharing a little of their lives
Sometimes though it makes me feel that my site is a little boring in comparison, but I enjoy it so I guess in the long run thats the main thing
