Disapointment and a Birthday Angel

For the last few years I have been a member of Cherylls Birthday fat 1/4 swap
This swap required us to send a fat 1/4 to members in a colour of their choice on their birthday
A bit of fun
We were also required to send a special gift to one special person
Not to hard really
I never received my special gift in the 2015 swap
I was so disappointed
I had  a message from my special person to say my gift would be late Life gets in the way sometimes We all appreciate that
Any way my gift never ever did come
Last Wednesday when I came home from hospital after my knee surgery there was a parcel waiting for me
On opening I found this draw string bag I love it and the thought fullness of my Birthday angel who decided to make up for my special person
Made my day
Thankyou my Birthday Angel and a BIG thankyou to the lovely Cheryll
Restored my faith in swaps
You are a beautiful person Cheryll and  there should not have been a need for my Birthday angel to step in

Last FNWF for 2016 and a little visitor

Over the years we seem to have had a little turtle pass through every year
Not sure if it is the same one
Thunder was not impressed with our visitor

I had a whole day sewing when I joined Cheryll and lots of friends for our last FNWF for the year
Where has the time gone?
Iam sure it was just Christmas yesterday
A pack of charm squares, a few spare hours and I came up with this lap quilt
My last present completed
I have to be organized this year as my knee surgery is on Monday
Hoping it will be as successful as my last one, though now I have a painful varicose vein in that leg
Cannot take  a trick

Two Lovely Days

On Tuesday I was blessed with a visit from one of my very favourite designers The gorgeous Michelle Ridgway
I was so thrilled to be able to show her a couple of her designs that I have stitched
She seemed pleased with what I had done with her design

She and Hubby are travelling in my area  and as they were going past my door they stopped for a quick morning tea
Thankyou both for taking the time
You made my week
Enjoy the rest of your trip guys
Then yesterday I was lucky enough to visit the Making the Australian Quilt expo in Melbourne
I only got one photo as I couldn't get my flash to turn off
This quilt was made up of thousands of tiny hexagons
Beautiful
So much Aussie quilting history

My beautiful special gift from Tarnyia
Lovely fat 1/4s and a few little extras

I just love the cushion she has made for me
Her quilting is beautiful
Thankyou Tarnyia
I must admit I was a little worried when Tarnyia emailed me to tell me my gift would be late as the same thing happened to me last year and I never did receive my gift
Any way it was well worth the wait
Still one fat 1/4 to come but Iam not holding my breath waiting
Thankyou to all the girls who did fullfill their swap obligations and Cheryll for once again organizing this swap

FNSI

Friday night I joined Wendy and friends ,once again for a night of stitching
I sewed the binding on my Lasting Legacy Block of the Month quilt and started stitching it down
We then went to Indoor Bowls for a fund raising night in aid of Peter Mac Hospital

Last night TA DA I finished it
This quilt has been a long time in the making
Used only fabrics I had on hand, so well pleased with my efforts
Some what busier than what I normally make but over all I think I like it

Nothing ever goes to Plan FNWF

Friday night saw me join Cheryll and friends once again for a night of crafting I had planned to work on some secret stuff, but my sewing machine had other ideas. So after much frustration and a few choice words I sewed the binding down on my I Spy quilt It had been waiting for some time to be done Now it is finished Then I went to publish the photo and Blogger has changed things once again GRRR I HATE when that happens. Now not sure if this is going to work GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Christmas in July. Another fun swap

My partner in this Christmas swap was the lovely Noni from http://firefliesandcatsinthegarden.blogspot.com/
She does the most exquisite cross stitch
She stitched a top for this Christmas box
It was full of lovely goodies
So cute

And just look at these two beautiful hangers
Thank you so much Noni
It was nice to get different gifts this year in the form of cross stitch instead of quilting
These are the gifts I sent to Noni
She has posted way better photos than me, so pop over to her Blog for a look

I have noticed that some of the trees I make tend to curl at the sides
If I have sent you one and it does I have found that a wooden scewer inserted through the back fixes this problem
Thanks to Cheryll for another great swap
