rainy day blues

It's drizzling here today
Iam a little down! Number one daughter has gone to Peter Mac. today to get results from the scan she had last week to see if the chemo has done it's job
The first lot of chemo they tried didn't work so they changed it.
They are then suggesting she go back on the hormone drugs she was taking before but the side effects were terrible, so she doesn't want to start back on them
I think I'll go for a walk now, rain or no rain, then I hopefully will do some sewing this afternoon

Following my Post from yesterday I guess I'd better explain what the tanks are for
Because we are on a farm we need to catch our own water so the tanks are for water storage
attached to the house and shed guttering to catch the rain from the roof
They are very common place in country Australia and I believe city dwellers are now installing water tanks as well Water Restrictions are now common place in this country
We have a large dam on the property which we use for stock water
Hopefully this explains to my over seas friends

New Tanks

Yesterday we had new tanks delivered They have been on order for some time and were supposed to be here at least 3 weeks ago
Yesterday they arrived in the worst possible weather Rain, cold and Oh so windy
They couldn't be sited yesterday because of the wind so they were tied down and left for better weather
Today being a little better Hubby being the stubborn , I mean independant, individual that he is, decideded not to wait for help He, I and the tractor could do it
Well yes, we managed but Oh Dear Look at the mess

My painting

I aspire to be a painter but alas Iam not very good
I painted most of this saw but it lacked depth and kinda looked like a drawing
A call to my talented friend Nadia and over she came
With a few strokes of her brush the painting came to life
Think I'd better stick to quilting
At least I'm better at that than Nadia

Bella is all Better

Bella seems to have made a full recovery after her op We took the stitches out last Sunday and she is walking much better
We had to take the stitches out ourselves because our vet has gone on Long Service Leave No Drama It's good to see her like her old self
Had a busy day cleaning out the kitchen cupboards Would have much prefered to be outside or sewing
I'm planning to get some sewing done now Most of my stitching is done at night while Hubby watches TV

On Sunday May 3 Hubby and I will celebrate 40 years of marraige
The time has gone in the blink of an eye ,but so much has happened
Forty years has seen the birth of two beautiful daughters and later 3 precious grandchildren
We have experienced grief at losing both Hubbys parents and my Father
It has seen us move from very mundane jobs to the purchase of our own farm on our 13th anniversary
Hard work followed, interest rates rose to over 18% and our first year saw a drought We both worked two jobs and the girls helped around the farm between studying
The girls grew up and went on their own way Elder daughter went nursing and the younger one managed a deli in a large supermarket until she herself married
In 1987 elder daughter was involved in a bad car accident which resulted in the loss of an eye
Some years later Hubby suffered an accident on the farm which resulted in the loss of an arm
Both of them got on with life and Hubby was, after a long rehabilitation, back running the farm During this time we received a lot of help from youngest daughter and her Hubby until he could take the reins again
In 1998 we retired from dairying and for the first time in our marraige I had time to spare and started crafting which eventually led to quilting
My points are not always perfect and my quilting is a bit rough but I love what I do and I was content with my life
That is until Valentines day, three years ago, we were struck another blow, when eldest daughter was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer
She has much love and support from us all
And thats about where our life is today as we are about to celebrate 40 years of marraige
